First Woman Bishop of Coventry Invested

Mary Creagh MP with Right Reverend Sophie Jelley, the new Bishop of Coventry

On June 7th Mary attended the installation of the Right Reverend Sophie Jelley as the new Bishop of Coventry.

She is the tenth person in the role since the Diocese of Coventry was formed in 1918 – and the first woman.

There was a wonderful service which included a choir of children from eight Coventry schools and which was attended my many dignitaries from across the city. Mary will meet her again when the new Bishop enters the House of Lords in the autumn.
