UK Green Business Awards

Mary Creagh MP speaking at the UK Green Business Awards

Mary Creagh MP spoke at the annual UK Green Business Awards, part of London Climate Action Week. The awards celebrate the most inspiring renewables, energy efficiency, and circular economy projects of the year.

Nature is the bedrock of the economy, and the Government is acting to protect and restore it by cleaning up our rivers and seas, boosting tree planting and reducing waste.

Reforms such as, Simpler Recycling and the Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers will help reduce food waste. The Environmental Improvement Plan will improve the environment and people’s enjoyment of it, while the first ever Land Use Framework for England will help to manage competing demands on how land is used to build homes, grow food, restore nature, and generate clean energy.

On 26 June the Government Estate Nature Plan was launched, a major new programme to restore nature across Government land in England. This smarter way of using land will see 500,000 hectares used to deliver for nature recovery and climate adaptation, strengthening climate resilience.
