Meeting Firefighters Who Tackled Henley College Blaze
Mary with some of the firefighters based at Binley Fire Station
Mary visited Binley Fire Station to talk to firefighters who had tackled the blaze at Henley College at the end of April. They told her how difficult it had been, and how close the entire roof had been to collapsing. 75 Firefighters from across the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) attended the Henley College fire.
Coventry City Councillor Gavin Lloyd, who represents Coventry Council sits on the Fire Authority, joined Mary in thanking Chief Fire Officer Simon Tuhill in person. They discussed a range of issues from capital investment, insurance policies and the need to ensure the WMFS is well funded. Mary has asked Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government minister Alex Norris for a meeting to ask for funding to make fire stations’ facilities fit for purpose.
