Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign

Mary with Councillors Seyi Agboola and Ram Lakha and Coventry volunteers with 14 bags of litter

Keep Britain Tidy has been running their Great British Spring Clean campaign for the past two weeks, and I’ve taken part in Coventry and in London.

Last weekend I was out litter-picking around the Hagard centre in Willenhall. Alongside Councillor Seyi Agboola, Councillor Ram Lakha and the brilliant Sylwia and several other Coventry volunteers we collected collect 14 bags of rubbish.

Thousands of groups have been doing similar work all over the country since 21st March as part of this important national campaign which has already has collected 435,345 bags of litter in less than a fortnight!

I highlighted this on another clean-up session in London where I was joined by Allison Ogden-Newton, CEO of Keep Britain Tidy, and by Nada Faroud from the Daily Mirror, who are supporting the campaign.

It would be so much better for our streets, our green spaces and waterways, and our wildlife if we didn't drop more than 30 million tons of litter in Britain every year. Please think about that - especially if you are a smoker!
