Minister Mary Creagh Speaking at the Plants in Parliament Event

Mary Creagh, Minister for Nature, spoke at the largest ever Plants in Parliament event, hosted by the Horticultural Trade Association (HTA). The HTA represents over 1,400 businesses across the UK’s environmental horticulture sector, bringing together growers, retailers, and suppliers committed to a green economy.

In her speech, Mary highlighted the significant steps the Government is taking to protect plants and nature across the UK. She outlined the new Land Use Framework, which sets out how land can be use more effectively to restore nature, boost resilient food production, accelerate housebuilding, and support sustainable growth.

Mary also emphasised the importance of green corridors and forests in protecting wildlife and improving biodiversity. This includes last year’s announcement of two new national forests, supported by a £1 billion investment in tree planting. To read more about this announcement click here.
