Minister Mary Creagh speaking at the New Statesman panel

Mary Creagh, Minister for Nature spoke on the panel at the 2026 New Statesman Energy and Climate Conference. She said nature is at the foundation of economic growth, wellbeing and national security and described how a nature first approach can accelerate sustainable growth and resilience.

Minister Creagh highlighted the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan, which tackles the nature and climate crisis, while supporting sustainable growth. The plan also unlocks private investment in nature.

Another significant government action is the publication of the Land Use Framework, which sets out how we can use our land more effectively. This will help to balance housing, food, energy and nature and ensure long-term resilience across the country.
