£13.6m to Fight Food Poverty

Mary Creagh MP, Minister for Nature, with staff and volunteers from City Harvest which will be boosted by Defra’s announcement 

Mary announced a £13.6 million launch of the ‘Tackling Food Surplus at the Farm Gate’ scheme, which boosts relationships between farmers and charities like FareShareUK and City Harvest. This will ensure edible food that would have been left in fields ends up on the nation’s plates instead.

Working with organisations like community kitchens, food banks, shelters and cookery projects we are tackling Britain’s throwaway culture and acting on food poverty.
