Mary at Defra Oral Questions in the House of Commons
On 13th November, Mary Creagh MP was on the front bench in the House of Commons, alongside her three ministerial colleagues in the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra).
Every six weeks or so, ministers appear before the house for Oral Questions, where MPs from all parties can ask questions related to the department’s responsibilities and the Ministers must answer them on behalf of the government. The questions can be on a wide variety of topics, from international and national issues to very specific concerns in MP’s constituencies.
Mary’s areas of responsibility include nature (nationally and internationally), waste, recycling and the circular economy, alongside environmental targets and green finance. Here are some of the answers she gave during this session.
Mary will be going to COP30 in Brazil this weekend to represent the UK Government in these crucial environmental talks.
Question 4: What steps has she taken to help tackle littering?
Question 9: “What steps she is taking to improve biodiversity?”
Question 9, supplemental: “Does the Minister agree that where the Conservatives have failed, this Government will take action at every level to protect nature and biodiversity for future generations?”
Question 10: “When does she plan to introduce legislation on banning imports of hunting trophies?”
