Mary appeared on BBC1's Countryfile to talk about the steps the Labour government are taking to tackle waste crime and clamp down on the cowboys who fly tip in our countryside. Her interview is 40 mins, 30 seconds into this episode.
Labour is cleaning up the mess the Tories left behind, and Mary is leading the charge as Minister for Waste.
Under Labour’s Plan for Change, councils will work with the police and use drones and mobile CCTV cameras to identify the waste cowboys’ vans and cars. Their vehicles will be seized and crushed, and they will be punished with up to five years in prison. Read more about the crackdown on the Defra website.
