Minister Creagh Answers Questions at Defra Orals
On 18th December, Mary Creagh MP was on the front bench in the House of Commons, alongside her three ministerial colleagues in the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra).
Every six weeks or so, ministers appear before the house for Oral Questions, where MPs from all parties can ask questions related to the department’s responsibilities and the Ministers must answer them on behalf of the government. The questions can be on a wide variety of topics, from international and national issues to very specific concerns in MP’s constituencies.
Mary’s areas of responsibility include nature (nationally and internationally), waste, recycling, and the circular economy, alongside environmental targets and green finance. Here are some of the answers she gave during this session.
Question: What steps she is taking to improve air quality.
Question: Will she make an assessment of the potential impact of the Extended Producer Responsibility scheme on the hospitality sector.
Question: Will the Minister reconsider biodiversity net gain measures in new developments?
Question: What steps are her department taking to improve the recycling of prime aluminium?
