Mary Creagh MP and Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, were in Lake View Park in Coventry to launch the Nature Investment Hub - one of the first regional fundraising platforms of its kind in the UK aiming to attract millions of pounds of new investment to speed up nature recovery.
Lake View Park, where Mary used to play as a child, is an example of the amazing work the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is doing in the area. The park shows the value of investment in urban nature sites, an idea at the heart of the Nature Investment Hub.
The Hub is a matchmaking service connecting businesses to pre-screened nature projects. The result is valuable new and improved nature sites and wildlife habitats that improve the health, wellbeing, and prosperity of residents and businesses.
Mary Creagh MP said:
“The West Midlands Nature Investment Hub will deliver an impressive range of nature recovery projects – from planting trees and restoring rivers to re-establishing historic heathland.
“This hub is proof of what can be achieved when we join up investors and businesses committed to environmental improvement with local nature projects ready to deliver action on the ground, and is exactly the type of initiative we want to see more of.”
Mary Creagh spoke to BBC Politics Midlands about the importance of Nature Investment Hub to Coventry (see below).
