Sky Blues promoted to the Premier League

Celebrations after the CCFC vs Wrexham game on Sunday

Coventry City Football Club (CCFC) will be returning to the Premier League after 25 years. Frank Lampard and his team have had an impressive season, and secured their Championship title, and promotion with a draw at Blackburn.

Mary Creagh MP is a lifelong fan. She attended their 3-1 victory over Wrexham on 26th April, and said:

“I am delighted that Coventry City Football Club will be returning to their rightful place in the Premier League after 25 years. It in an incredible achievement, and a tribute to their tremendous efforts and belief of the players, coach Frank Lampard and owner Doug King.

“The club has always been close to the hearts of local people and a symbol of our great city. As a lifelong Sky Blues supporter I remember the joy in the city when we won the FA cup in 1987. Coventry is buzzing again and it’s going to be a huge boost for the city.”

The team will be celebrating on 4th May with an open top bus parade from the ground, around the city and ending at the Memorial Park, supported by Coventry City Council, at which tens of thousands of people from across the city are expected to attend.

Mary Creagh MP worked with fellow parliamentary Sky Blues fans on an Early Day Motion to celebrate this historic moment for Coventry (see below).
