Bees’ Needs Week celebrated by Mary Creagh MP

Mary Creagh MP attends the 2026 Bees’ Needs Championship Awards

Mary Creagh celebrated Bees’ Needs Week 2026 with an awards ceremony at RHS Wisley. Mary handed out awards to the Bees’ Needs Champions, groups who have done fantastic work to support pollinators. These groups include schools, cafes and community gardens.

Pollinators, like bees, butterflies and beetles, are vital to the nature and climate of this country. Mary Creagh as Minister for Nature is leading Defra’s new campaign: Wild Again: Restoring England’s Wildlife. This campaign recvers native species and habitats across the UK. As part of this, Mary Creagh MP annouced that 130 projects, encompassing 364 threatened species, will receive funding from Natural England’s £60 million Species Recovery Programme.

The Labour government is turning the tide for England's wildlife including precious pollinators, and restoring and creating the habitats they live in. These actions contribute towards the Government target to halt species decline in England by 2030, and reverse those declines by 2042.
