Foreign Secretary comes to Wakefield
Foreign Secretary David Miliband came to Wakefield on Thursday 29 April at the invitation of Labour candidate Mary Creagh. He visited Wakefield College to meet students and members of the city's Muslim community.
College Principal Sue Griffiths and Council leader Peter Box joined Mary to welcome Mr Miliband to the college where he took part in a question and answer session with local people. He answered questions on jobs and the economy, the European Union, Britain's role in Afghanistan, and the choice facing voters at the general election on 6th May.
He then accompanied Mary to meet commuters and rail staff at Westgate train station.
Mary Creagh said "I was delighted to welcome David to Wakefield to meet with local people. We had an interesting Q&A session with students from the college and it was good to see how many people from our local community turned out to meet him."
