Health Secretary visits £250m Pinderfields Hospital

Health Secretary Andy Burnham was in Wakefield on 15 April to see the new £250m Pinderfields Hospital.  He also visited King Street Health Centre with Wakefield's Labour candidate Mary Creagh. The pair then moved on to the city centre where they talked to people about health services in the district.

The new Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield will provide comprehensive care for the whole district, including the most seriously ill, complex births, specialist paediatric care, acute medical admissions and complex surgery. Health Secretary Andy Burnham gave the go ahead for the new hospital in 2007 to make the £250 million investment for Wakefield.

The King Street Health Centre opened in June last year and has extended GP access for registered patients in Wakefield.  It also provides a flexible walk-in service from 8am to 8pm every day of the week. It can be used by anyone, with or without an appointment. Call 0845 121 1023.
