Mary's Parking Summit a Success

Mary's parking summit took place on Friday 22 January in a bid to help people know their rights when parking in private car parks in Wakefield.

Mary said "We had an interesting discussion about the law. They can only pursue a claim through the county court, not magistrates courts, so it is not a criminal matter. I will be putting together a number of resources to help people know their rights."

She added "Machines go wrong and human beings are not infallible. The council car parks allow 5 minutes leeway to get change or if you're stuck in a queue with shopping.  They also have an appeals process where people can appeal in person rather than just writing in as many private companies have."
