Mary Demands End to "Shag Bands" Sales

Wakefield MP Mary Creagh has demanded the withdrawal of a fashion band being sold to children.  Stores across the country are selling "Shag Bands" bracelets to children which, when worn, indicates a willingness to have sex. The bands come in different colours, with each colour signifying a different sexual act. The packaging features a group of young teenagers wearing the bracelets and the brand name "Shag Bands" prominently displayed.

Mary has written to one store demanding that the product be withdrawn from sale immediately.

Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield said: "The name and connotation of these bands is completely horrible and wrong.  I do not think these bands should be sold to children. Childhood is all too short. Our precious children should not be exposed to this kind of stupidity for commercial profit."

Mary has also written to Lord Mandelson and Children's Secretary Ed Balls.
