Shepley Schoolgirl Wins Prize in Parliament

- Keri-Amber receives her certificate from Mary
Keri-Amber Foster of Shepley First School met with local MP Mary Creagh in Parliament this week. Keri-Amber was a winner in the “Parliament and Big Ben Christmas Card Competition” which was launched by Wakefield MP Mary Creagh back in January 2009.
School children from across the district were invited by Mary and the House of Commons to design a special “Big Ben” themed Christmas card for Christmas 2009. Keri-Amber’s entry was selected as a winning entry by the Commons judging panel and she received her certificate and badge from Mary Creagh in Parliament this week.
Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield said: “It was a pleasure to meet Keri-Amber and her fellow students from Shepley First School this week. Keri-Amber should be very proud of her achievement. She submitted a winning entry in a national competition and it was a privilege for me to be able to present her with her certificate and badge. Her classmates gave me a good grilling about life as an MP. It was lovely to see so many children learning about their democracy”
