Mary Welcomes Wakefield Students to Westminster

Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield welcomed students from Kettlethorpe High School in Wakefield to Parliament this week - 7th July.
The students were in London to present their “4teens” project. Schools across the country were invited to submit their “Big ideas” to improve society. The students want to offer help and support to young people suffering stress and depression. They have set up a website with links to NHS services, information and support about bullying, and a forum with trained volunteer counsellors on hand to offer advice.
Wakefield MP Mary Creagh welcomed the group to the Palace of Westminster and congratulated the school and the students on their project. Mary said – “I was very impressed with the student’s work. They are passionate about the project which will be an enormous support to young people in our area. Research has shown that one in three teenagers has suffered with depression and the students have come up with a great way to support their peers. It was a pleasure to see staff and students from Wakefield in Westminster.”
