Wakefield Residents Meet Gordon Brown

Wakefield residents Peter and Jean Bowers have visited Downing Street as the guests of Mary Creagh MP. Mr Bowers served in the British Armed Forces and was invited to meet the Prime Minister at an event in honour of British veterans and serving Armed Forces personnel.
This year marked the first Armed Forces Day, on Saturday 27 June, a new national day which the Government has introduced to pay tribute to all who have served with the Royal Navy, the Army and the RAF and to the thousands of families who support our Forces.
Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield said: “It was a great honour to be able to go with Mr and Mrs Bowers to meet the Prime Minister. This is a day when we can unite and say thank you to our armed forces and veterans and I was delighted that Mr and Mrs Bowers were able to come down from Wakefield.”
