Mary fights for West Bretton footpath
Mary Creagh MP has announced her opposition to Council plans to upgrade Public Footpath number 9 in West Bretton to a public byway. She has been contacted by a number of constituents and West Bretton Parish Council who all oppose the plans.
West Bretton is a site of outstanding natural beauty and would be threatened by noise and air pollution should the route be opened to motorised vehicles. There are also local concerns about the security of houses in the area and the safety of walkers using the route.
Mary Creagh MP said,
“I went to look at the footpath on Friday and spoke to local people. I am opposed to the upgrading of this route to a byway. I have made this very clear in my letter to the council. I hope that they will see sense and take the necessary steps to protect this part of our district.”
