Mary marks National School Meals Week at Wakefield City Academy
Wakefield MP Mary Creagh marked this year's National Schools Meal Week on 11th November by visiting Wakefield City Academy. She met with Headteacher Alan Yellup and the kitchen staff who had prepared a 1940s themed lunch for the children.
Mary said “It was great to be back at City Academy and to hear about the remarkable progress the school continues to make under the outstanding leadership of Alan Yellup and his team. A special thanks must go to the fantastic kitchen staff who made sure everyone enjoyed a delicious, healthy 1940’s-themed school meal!"
Headteacher Alan Yellup said “Not only were the students of Wakefield City Academy pleased to see their local MP, Mary Creagh, during National School Meals Week, but so too the Academy’s redoubtable Kitchen Staff, who treated Mary to the very best of Second World War food. Mary spent time not only tasting the war-time fare but also discussing with today’s students the importance of healthy eating.”
