Mary visits Greenhill School students
Mary Creagh visited Greenhill School on Friday 25 June to talk about money skills with students. The Eastmoor school won £1000 from Barclays Bank as part of a competition aiming to improve financial literacy amongst the most vulnerable people in the UK. Greenhill are using running a number of projects designed to teach students about money and financial issues.
Mary Creagh said "It is great that Barclays is encouraging schools to run projects that help children learn more about money through their Barclays Money Skills community investment programme.
The Greenhill School children created their own T shirts which involved them having to buy the accessories and dyes they needed. The Tshirts will be modelled at a fashion show which the children are selling tickets for and all profits will be ploughed back into the school. I was very impressed by the children's level of knowledge about money issues when I visited the school.
I know that the school council are looking forward to spending their thousand pound prize money."
