Tory Story in BNP gaffe

Wakefield's Tory candidate Alex Story made an embarrassing gaffe at an election hustings when he claimed that the BNP is an offshoot of the Labour Party. He made the comments in Wakefield Cathedral and was forced to apologise to the audience. He also offended the room by imitating a Wakefield miner's accent.   

Labour candidate Mary Creagh took him to task on the outrageous comments and received a round of applause for stating Labour's strong record on fighting racism, fascism and discrimination in all its forms.

She said "Alex Story's comments are an insult to the people of Wakefield."
