Mary welcomes WDH aerial charge review

Following representations from Wakefield MP Mary Creagh, Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) have agreed to halt a planned service charge to pay for maintenance on communal TV aerials.

Tenants got in touch with Mary after receiving letters from WDH telling them they would be charged up to £50 a year in addition to their rent and normal service charges. Mary took the matter up with WDH bosses who have agreed to consult with tenants on services and charges before April 2012.

WDH Chief Executive Kevin Dodd said "As a result of representations made by Mary Creagh MP, WDH have agreed to consult tenants fully about the services they receive and implement any revised charges in April 2012."

Mary said "I have been contacted by a number of residents with concerns about the extra charges relating to the digital switchover. I immediately raised the matter with WDH and am pleased that they have agreed to stop the charges pending a consultation with tenants."
